SENDING IMAGES TO A GP – You may be asked to email images to the GP to show certain conditions. Please click here for guidance on how best to prepare and send images to us. Please DO NOT SEND images unless asked to do so by a member of staff or GP at the Turret Medical Centre.
To book an appointment with a GP or a nurse please phone our practice number or ask at our reception desk. A member of our reception staff will be happy to help you. Alternatively you can now register with Patient Access which means you can book and cancel appointments online or via a smartphone Please ask at reception for your personal registration form to set up this service and then just click here to log in. To download the app or your Apple or Android smartphone search for an app called ‘Patient Access’.
When calling to make an appointment, our reception staff may ask you for some information about the nature or urgency of your problem so they can try to find the most suitable appointment for you. If you have a mobile phone number on record you will now receive a text reminder the day before your appointment. Please do not use the number or email in the text to message the surgery other than to send the word CANCEL to cancel an appointment. Text message replies do not come back to the surgery and the email account is not a monitored account. If you need to contact the surgery please call reception on 0141 776 8200.
The Turret Medical Centre is proud to be a teaching practice. Fully qualified doctors who are training to be GP’s are a welcome addition to our practice team. We may ask for your permission to use recordings of your consultations for training purposes. Click here for more information about this.
Surgery Opening Times:
Normal Opening Hours:
We are open from 8.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday, excluding Public Holidays
Appointments are available from 8.30am to 12pm and 2.00pm to 5pm.
Extended Opening Hours:
We have an evening surgery on alternate Mondays & Tuesdays, excluding Public holidays. These appointments are intended for patients who work and find it difficult to attend during the day due to their work commitments. Appointments are available with Doctors and Nurses from 5.30pm to 7pm
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays).
If you are Late
Please attend your appointment on time , if you are late you may not be seen.
Please note appointment times may vary during illness and holidays.
If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and we will arrange this for you. We now use a telephone interpreting service which should mean it is quicker and easier to arrange an appointment and this also means there will not be someone else in the consultation with the GP or nurse.
Private Medical Examinations
Medical examinations for special purposes such as pre-employment, fitness to travel, elderly drivers, fitness to undertake sports etc, will require longer than a routine appointment.
These examinations do not form part of NHS Services, you will be charged for any such examination. Please check the fee chargeable when you require to arrange any such examination.
Request for GP Letters/Completion of Forms
If your Doctor has agreed to write a letter for you in connection with your employment, acting as a referee, or for some other specific area, you may be charged for this letter. Please allow at least five working days before collecting your letter, if you require this letter urgently please inform your Doctor during your consultation. If you wish your Doctor to complete a form/report for you, there will also be a charge for this, please allow 48 hours before uplifting your form.
The reception staff will advise you of any applicable charges.
