Diazepam for Fear of Flying

The Practice has reviewed its benzodiazepine prescribing and based on current national guidelines will no longer prescribe benzodiazepines or sedatives (such as diazepam) to patients for fear of flying. This will be effective as of 1st January 2025.

The Turret Medical Centre is a Teaching Practice

We train qualified Doctors who wish to become GP’s. As part of their training the Doctors (GP Registrars), under the guidance of the training GP’s Dr Brady and Dr Deighan, are required to review consultations the Registrars have with patients to help with their learning. As a result of this, when you have an appointment at the surgery – either are the practice or remotely for a telephone or video consultation – you may be asked if you are happy for the call or consultation to be recorded or observed by one of the GP partners for training purposes.

Recording and observing of consultations is subject to the same confidentiality requirements as would be observed with a regular GP consultation. Under GDPR guidelines, all recordings of such consultations will be deleted after 3 months unless previously agreed with the patient. You have the right to decline recording of consultations at any time prior to, during or after the consultation.

If you require any further information regarding this then please contact the Practice Manager.
